Viva La Mexico! Traveling during the Covid 19 pandemic
Hey Electric Babes! *blows kisses*
I started my year with a fabulous long weekend in Madrid, Spain. Next, I traveled to Dubai for the International Boat Show which I never actually attended because they shut it down as the COVID outbreak officially was becoming a global issue. So like many of you, I had been effectively grounded.
Until now!
It has been five months since the world drastically changed and so much has happened. Between the global health crisis and the Black Lives Matter movement my head has been spinning. Surviving it all has been mentally exhausting and I was in dire need of a break.
Out of an abundance of precaution, many countries have banned North Americans from accessing their lands because of our record numbers of infections. This axed my ideas of traveling to Greece or Australia once the borders reopened. Luckily our favorite southern neighbor, Mexico, is welcoming visitors from the U.S. with open arms for tourist travel. So off to Cancun I went!
Cancun is a quick 90-minute flight from Miami and direct flights left three times a day from Miami International Airport so the city was an optimal location. It was so weird to have been out of an airport for six months when I'd normally travel every six weeks. The airport in Miami was so empty and everyone was in masks (amen).
I choose the delicious LeBlanc Spa and Resort for my five-day respite and I could not be happier with my stay! Welcome drinks, a flawless check-in process, warm welcome, and super helpful staff greeted me at the front doors. All staff were in masks, the hotel had greatly reduced capacity and sanitizer stations and social distancing was made easy for all.
The resort was so lush I barely left it the entire time. I spent 5 days sunbathing at their infinity pools, eating at their diverse and delicious 6 restaurants, and being catered too by our butler Luis. This was only my second time trying an all-inclusive resort because I feared the quality would not meet my standard. I was pleasantly surprised to find out how wrong I was.
I booked a royal honeymoon suite, it was furnished with the softest king bed, a waterfall shower fully stocked minibar with premium liquor and a giant jacuzzi in the sunken living area perched right in front a Juliet balcony overlooking the ocean. What a dream!
I loved the soft whites and creams in the decor throughout the hotel complete with lighted marble tables and a white grand piano. The soft colors really set the stage for the most beautiful shades of blue I have ever seen. The sand was perfect and the beach pristine. I have traveled the world and Cancun makes my top three most perfect beaches for sure.
LeBlanc Spa and Resort gives you a wristband to wear during your entire stay that doubles as your room key. I thought that was such a neat little innovation especially to a place that serves unlimited alcohol all day lol. Who wants to have to keep up with a room key when you're sipping mojitos? There is a butler assigned to each floor of the hotel 24 hours a day. The butlers unpacked my luggage, made all my car service reservations (no Uber in Cancun sadly), drew baths with rose petals, made dinner reservations, and more. I've had personal butler service at the St. Regis in Instanbul and this rivaled even that. I imagine because of the low occupancy, it makes you feel like the staff is there solely for you.
On my last night in paradise, I ventured out to Harry's Cancun. I visited their Playa Del Carmen location in 2018 and truly had the best king crab of my life so I was eager to go back once I knew there was a location 10 minutes from my hotel. They did not disappoint!

Stringent health standards included temperature checks, hand sanitizer stations, limited capacity, servers in mask, gloves and face shield, and more. I could not have felt safer or more catered to. Tequila and seafood flowed all night ending in a round of Don Julio 70 with the general manager. Harry's is a must-visit while in Cancun. Just look at this mountain of cotton candy sent as a sweet treat to finish the meal.
That's it for now Electric Babes. I am home unpacking and searching for my next adventure. Perhaps to Cappadocia since Turkey is also open to Americans right now. What about you? Do you feel ready to venture out again? Have you already? Tell me about your trip!
